Study Parameters

Period

Sept 1 - Oct 12, 2023

Duration

42 days

Subjects

28 animals

Groups

16 cats, 12 dogs

Study Methodology

Study Objectives

  • • Comparative anesthetic activity assessment
  • • Safety and tolerability analysis
  • • Anesthesia onset and duration evaluation
  • • Recovery quality comparison
  • • Adverse reaction monitoring

Inclusion Criteria

  • • Healthy animals (ASA I-II)
  • • Age 1 to 8 years
  • • Body weight 2 to 45 kg
  • • Elective surgical procedures
  • • Owner consent for participation

Key Results

Therapeutic Equivalence

The study demonstrated therapeutic equivalence of Vezotil® and Zoletil® 100. Both drugs showed comparable efficacy in providing anesthesia for cats and dogs during elective surgical procedures.

Vezotil® Advantages

  • More pronounced sedation during induction
  • Significantly reduced salivation
  • Smoother recovery
  • Excellent animal tolerability

Time Parameters

Anesthesia onset:3-5 minutes
Duration:45-90 minutes
Recovery time:60-120 minutes
Recovery quality:Excellent

Study Conclusion

Vezotil® demonstrated therapeutic equivalence to Zoletil® 100 across key anesthetic activity parameters. Some advantages of Vezotil were noted in terms of sedative effect and animal comfort.

The study confirmed the safety of Vezotil® use in cats and dogs of various breeds and ages when following recommended dosages and protocols.

🏆 Recommendation: Vezotil® can be considered as an effective alternative to Zoletil® 100 for anesthesia of small companion animals.

Study Protocol

Study Design

Randomized controlled comparative study in parallel groups. Animals were randomly assigned to two groups: Vezotil® group (n=14) and Zoletil® 100 group (n=14).

Administration Protocol

  • • Intramuscular administration
  • • Dosage: 10-15 mg/kg body weight
  • • Atropine premedication
  • • Vital function monitoring

Evaluated Parameters

  • • Time to sedation onset
  • • Anesthesia depth
  • • Duration of action
  • • Recovery quality
  • • Adverse reactions
