In 2025, the peer-reviewed journal VetPharma published an article by veterinary anesthesiologist O.V. Zakirova presenting the results of a clinical study on the use of VEZOTIL® for chronic orthopedic pain control in dogs and cats. The work was carried out in specialized veterinary clinics from September to December 2024.
The study included 64 animals diagnosed with cranial cruciate ligament rupture who underwent TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy). Patients were divided into two groups: the first group received VEZOTIL® in subanesthetic doses as part of a multimodal analgesia protocol, while the second group received a standard protocol without this product.
The study results demonstrated a statistically significant advantage of the VEZOTIL® group. Only 13% of animals in the treatment group exceeded the pain threshold on the pain assessment scale, compared with 89% in the control group. In addition, according to data published on the product website, a significant improvement was recorded in 78% of patients, good tolerability in 92%, and increased overall motor activity in 85% of animals.
Previously, VEZOTIL® established itself as an effective product for general anesthesia in small companion animals. O.V. Zakirova’s publication opens a new perspective for its clinical use — as a component of multimodal therapy for chronic pain syndrome.
VETSTEM LLC notes that the obtained data confirm the broad therapeutic potential of VEZOTIL® and may serve as a basis for further research in chronic pain management in veterinary medicine. The full publication text is available on VetPharma and on the vezotil.ru research page.
